I’m excited to be part of the Beyond the Book Festival on 10th May in Brighton.

Fantasy and sci-fi have seen a huge surge in popularity in the last few years, but why do we love these genres so much? In our turbulent times do we read these books to escape this world, or to see it in a different way?

Prepare to enter a multiverse of other worlds with authors Natasha Pulley (The Hymn to Dionysus), Adam Simcox (The Dying Squad), Zulekhá Afzal (Dancers of the Dawn) and podcaster, screenwriter and author Mark Stay (Witches of Woodville) as they share their stories of fantastical realms and incredible adventures. I’ll be attending FantasyCon this year and they’ve asked me to do a few panels. Here’s my schedule…

FRIDAY 11th, 9pm: I’ll be reading something horrific (as in from the horror… unless you really want to hear my first drafts?) in the Gladstone Room.

SATURDAY 12th, 9am: MUPPETS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER in the Prince Albert room.

SATURDAY 12th, 3pm: RESPECT AND KINDNESS IN WRITING in the Collonades.

SUNDAY 13th, 10am: BUILDING AN AUTHOR BRAND in the Palazzo

SUNDAY 13TH, Noon: SO YOU’VE FOUND YOURSELF IN A WORLD RULED BY DRAGONS? A SURVIVAL GUIDE in the Edwards Room.

SUNDAY 13th, 1pm: I’ll be reading something fantastical in the Gladstone Room.

MAIDSTONE MUSEUM STEAMPUNK FESTIVAL

I’ll be there selling and signing books. There will also be Tea Duelling, Familiar Flinging, a Bring n Buy stall, a Fashion parade, and much more! 
The museum is Free entry but do welcome donations which can be made at various points around the building. You can also register at the event’s Facebook page here.

Steampunk Weekend

Yet another opportunity to come and point at and prod me in public! This is quite a unique event in that it takes place at two train stations (Bodiam and Tenterden), but when you buy a ticket you’re getting unlimited travel between the two!

I was very excited to be asked to attend Cymera this year, and over the moon when they asked me to chat with the legendary Charles Stross!
